An Owner’s Perspective on Nutrition and Health
Welcome to the first episode of Season 2 on the Gymnast Care Podcast!
So what happens when an owner buys into performance and injury prevention 100%?
The whole culture in your gym changes and your gymnasts see injury prevention as “what we do.” When they skip a day, they’re the ones that get onto the coach to get back to the right activities. Imagine that!
Welcome Eric Van der Meer
Eric Van de Meer joins us for Episode 29 to bring a brand new perspective to the culture of the gym and how to see a big change in what is happening in YOUR gym.
Eric is a visionary and has been interested in protecting gymnasts since he had his first elite at a National Competition over 20 years ago.
We discussed the how he implemented the Gymnastics Revolution Seminar philosophy and saw very few injuries this year.
Eric gets deep into how the right philosophy can see big differences in young athletes lives. He feels that making a stand for the right way is The Way to go.
My favorite quote from Eric is this: “In our gym, we rely on the 2nd line of expertise” to take us to the next level. What Eric means by this is his coaches are the first line of expertise because they’re with the gymnasts every day. The second line experts are people like Dr. Dave Tilley from Shift and Myself when we bring state of the art information to their gym.
Eric is proud that his ego isn’t so big that he won’t listen to outside experts and that is a refreshing opinion in this age of gymnastics.
